Mountaineers to Cap Nonconference Slate Against UConn Sunday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 8-ranked West Virginia University women's soccer team prepares to conclude the nonconference portion of its schedule when it welcomes UConn to Morgantown on Sunday, Sept. 13. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Sunday's match is West Virginia's annual Camper Reunion and Youth Soccer Day. After the game, kids in eighth grade or under can join a free clinic and autograph session hosted by the women's soccer team.
Single-game tickets are available to purchase in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. When purchasing online, tickets are $12 each. Any remaining tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for youth and seniors at the stadium ticket window on match day.
New for the 2026 season, all student tickets for WVU's Olympic sports will transition to mobile delivery. Students will now be required to log in to their WVUGAME.com account to reserve a student ticket for each home athletics event. For Olympic sports, there is no request process. Students will simply log in to their account using the single sign-on functionality, navigate to the sport of the event they would like to attend and reserve a ticket.

West Virginia enters the match with an undefeated 5-0 record. The Mountaineers have outscored their opponents 9-2 so far this season, while the WVU defense has held all five opponents to three shots on goal or fewer in each match. Of note, the Mountaineers are 17-0-3 in their last 20 regular-season matches, dating back to Aug. 28, 2025.
Sunday's matchup marks the 20th all-time meeting between West Virginia and UConn, as the Huskies hold an 11-5-3 advantage in the series. The two teams have not met since Oct 16, 2011, as the Mountaineers collected a 2-1 win in Storrs, Conn. That matchup marked the end of yearly conference meetings between the Huskies and Mountaineers, as WVU left the Big East and joined the Big 12 the following year. Sunday's match will mark the first contest between the programs as members of different conferences
After an 11-4-3 season in 2025, UConn enters Sunday's contest with a 2-1-2 record and is coming off a 5-1 win over LIU on Sept. 6. The Huskies brought in six new players from the transfer portal and gained six new freshmen on their 2026 roster. Meave Staunton leads the offense so far this season with two goals and five points. In goal, Lily Onorato has recorded 13 saves on the year.
