MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball head coach Mark Kellogg has announced the addition of Skylar Forbes (Markham, Ontario, Canada / Marquette / Scarborough Prep) to a grant-in-aid for the 2026-27 academic year.
"Skylar is a versatile and experienced player who has proven herself at a high level," Kellogg said. "She impacts the game in multiple ways and is motivated to continue developing. She fits exactly what we're building here at West Virginia, and we're excited to add her to our program."
The 6-foot-3 forward from Markham, Ontario, has played three seasons of collegiate basketball with one season of eligibility left after beginning her career at Marquette.
For her career, she has scored 1,075 points, averaging 11.8 points per game to go along with 446 rebounds and a 4.9 per game mark. She adds 156 assists, 88 steals and 138 blocks in her career.
Last season, Forbes was named to the All-Big East Conference First Team and a Defensive Team selection. She ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring at 15.5 points per game and 17th in rebounding at 4.9 per outing. The junior led the league in blocks for the second straight year at 1.81 per game. She was named the conference player of the week once and to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll six times throughout the season.
Forbes also earned first-team all-conference honors as a sophomore, producing a team-high 15.8 points and 5.9 rebounds after starting in all 31 games played. Additionally, she added five mentions on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll. Last summer, she played for Team Canada at the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series in Vienna.
In high school, she attended Bond Academy and played for Scarborough Prep in Toronto, Ontario. As a senior, she averaged 17.5 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. She was named a Juel League First Team All-Star as a junior and senior and a Juel League All-Star game MVP in 2023.
She was named an Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) Second Team All-Star as a senior and has international experience as a member of the U18 Canadian National team in 2022.
Forbes intends to major in criminology while at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of Richard and Sharon Forbes and has three siblings: Brooklyn, Jaxon and Taylon.
