
Mountaineers Return Home for Series Against Houston

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15 West Virginia University baseball team is back home this weekend for a series against Houston, April 17-19. First pitch on Friday is set for 6:30 p.m., Saturday for 4 p.m., and Sunday for 1 p.m.
Tickets are available at WVUGame.com, by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME or visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office at Kendrick Family Ballpark. Student tickets are free with a WVU ID. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+, listen on the Mountaineer Sports Network, and can follow with live stats at WVUsports.com.
Friday night will be Hawaiian night, so wear your best Hawaiian outfit and make sure to arrive early, as the first 250 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary lei. A limited number of ADA-accessible spaces are available near Gate A and next to the Clubhouse on a first-come, first-served basis. All other fans should use the general parking lots located across the street from Kendrick Family Ballpark.
West Virginia is 25-8 overall this season after defeating Penn State, 3-1, in neutral-site game in Hagerstown, Md. In the Big 12, WVU sits tied for second in the standings with UCF at 10-5, two games behind Kansas at 12-3.
Sophomore Gavin Kelly leads the team with a .409 batting average and is tied with graduate student Sean Smith in home runs with five. Kelly also leads the Mountaineers with 34 RBI. Junior Armani Guzman leads the Big 12 with 21 stolen bases while senior Paul Schoenfeld and junior Tyrus Hall both have 13 bags swiped.
On the mound, redshirt junior Maxx Yehl leads the rotation with a 2.50 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 50.1 innings. Sophomore Chansen Cole is coming off his best start of the season against Texas Tech when he went 8.0 innings and allowed just two runs. In the bullpen, senior Carson Estrdige has a 2.35 ERA in 15.1 innings.
