
West Virginia Set to Travel to Kennesaw State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team heads to Kennesaw State to take on the Owls for three games from Feb. 27-March 1. First pitch on Friday is set for 4 p.m., Saturday for 2 p.m., and Sunday for 12 p.m.

The Mountaineers are 6-1 on the season after winning their home opener, 19-6, over Ohio on Wednesday. Seniors Brock Wills and Matthew Graveline each hit home runs while sophomore Matt Ineich had four hits and three RBI.
Ineich leads the team with a .538 batting average and has hit safely in all seven games this season. Going back to last year, he has reached base safely in 30 straight games. Graduate student Brodie Kresser has a .529 batting average while Graveline leads the team with three home runs and senior Paul Schoenfeld has a team-high 11 RBI.

Heading into the 2026 season, WVU was picked third in the Big 12 Coaches Poll, the highest predicted finish since joining the Big 12. The Mountaineers are currently ranked in four polls – D1Baseball (24), NCBWA (21), Baseball America (20), and The Athletic (23).
Led by fifth year head coach Ryan Coe, Kennesaw State was picked third in the CUSA Preseason Poll. The Owls are 4-3 this season and are coming off a 7-5 win over Georgia Southern.
Jackson Chirello leads the team with a .407 batting average while Charlie Jones has two home runs. Daniel Powell leads the staff with a 1.04 ERA and 13 strikeouts in four relief appearances.
