MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men's basketball coach Ross Hodge has announced the signing of Amadou Seini to a grant-in-aid to join the Mountaineers in 2026-27.
Seini, a 7-foot-1, 230-pound freshman center from Cameroon, will come to WVU from Bella Vista Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"We are happy to have Amadou Seini join our Mountaineer basketball program," Hodge said. "His ability to move at his size is impressive and gives him a super-high ceiling. He is one of the best rebounders in the country and continues to improve at a rapid rate."
Seini helped Bella Vista win the Chipotle Nationals, finishing with 12 points, eight rebounds and two blocks against Montverde Academy in the finals. He recorded a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds in the semifinal win over Dynamic Prep (Texas).
At the Under-19 World Cup playing for Cameroon, Seini averaged 15.4 rebounds per game over seven contests, setting the all-time FIBA U19 World Cup rebounding record. He had 24 rebounds against Australia and 24 rebounds against China, becoming just the fourth player in tournament history to register multiple 24+ rebounding games.
Seini had 21 rebounds against Israel, becoming the first player since Australia's Andrew Bogut to have three games of 20 or more rebounds. Seini averaged 9.9 points per game on 53% from the field to go with 1.4 blocks and 1.6 steals per game.
Seni previously played for Varese Academy in Italy.
