MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (Feb. 4, 2026) – The West Virginia University women's basketball team used a fast start and a dominant defensive effort from its backcourt to secure a 61–55 road win over Colorado on Wednesday night inside the CU Events Center.
The Mountaineers (19–5, 9–3 Big 12) rode a 24-point first quarter to establish early control, then leaned on timely shots and a barrage of steals from guard Jordan Harrison, who turned in one of her best offensive performances of the season. Harrison finished with 18 points, six steals, and three made threes, pacing a WVU offense that hit seven shots from long range.
WVU's defense set the tone early, forcing 17 turnovers and converting them into 13 points off giveaways. The Mountaineers also thrived in transition, outscoring the Buffs 21–18 in fast-break points.
Gia Cooke added 12 points and a pair of key second-half baskets, while Sydney Shaw scored 11, including a trio of first-quarter makes that helped WVU build a 5-point cushion after the opening frame.
On the interior, forwards Carter McCray and Kierra Wheeler anchored WVU's rebounding effort. McCray led the effort on the glass with 10 rebounds, while Wheeler added seven points and seven rebounds.
Colorado (15–8, 6–5 Big 12) was led by Jade Masogayo's 13 points, fueled largely by a 9-for-9 performance at the free-throw line. Desiree Wooten added 12, and Logyn Greer chipped in 11 off the bench.
The Buffs cut WVU's lead to three in the final minute, but Harrison and McCray delivered the closing blows—Harrison sinking a late free throw before McCray buried a short jumper to seal the win.
West Virginia finished the night shooting 24-of-58 (41%), while holding Colorado to 19-of-53 (36%) overall and just 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.
The Mountaineers are back at home on Saturday, Feb. 7, when they take on Arizona inside Hope Coliseum in Morgantown. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
