MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia continues its three-game preseason exhibition slate with a Friday night clash at Glenville State inside the Pioneers' Waco Center.
It will be the Mountaineers' first visit to Glenville to play a men's college basketball game, and it will be just the second meeting ever.
The only occasion these two schools played was on Dec. 1, 1945, in the old Mountaineer Field House to tip off the 1945-46 season.
WVU, coached then by Lee Patton, won the contest 83-37.
This will be the second of three preseason dates for the Mountaineers leading into regular season play. Last Sunday, West Virginia lost to Maryland 90-81 in overtime in College Park. WVU led the Terps by as many as 19 points late in the first half before Maryland rallied after intermission.
Guard Finley Bizjack led four double-figure Mountaineer scorers with 25 points, connecting on 5 of 8 from 3-point range, while converting all eight of his free throws.
Freshman point guard Miles Sadler added 16 points and four assists, while Martin Somerville and Seydou Traore came off the bench to contribute 13 points each. WVU used a starting lineup consisting of Bizjack, Sadler and Joson Sanon in the backcourt, with Mouhamed Sylla and Brenen Lorient in the frontcourt.
Ten different players saw court time last Sunday.
The visit to Glenville Friday evening will take on a somber tone following the recent passing of Ike Morris, a longtime supporter of Glenville State and West Virginia University athletics. The popular businessman and philanthropist was laid to rest on Thursday and Mountaineer football coach Rich Rodriguez served as one of the pall bearers for the funeral service.
Glenville is planning a memorial tribute to Morris prior to the game, slated to tip off at 7 p.m.
A live stream of the contest is being made available on Mountain East TV with a link provided HERE and above. Viewers will be required to provide an email address and establish login credentials to watch the stream.
There will be no live radio coverage for Friday night's matchup with most of the Mountaineer Sports Network personnel on site in Fort Worth, Texas, preparing to broadcast Saturday afternoon's TCU football game.
WVU will wrap up preseason play on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at Hope Coliseum against Wheeling. That contest will tip off at 7 p.m.
Tickets remain available for West Virginia's 2026-27 season opener against Niagara on Monday, Nov. 2, and can be purchased through the Mountaineer Ticket Office by logging on to WVUGAME.com.
