William Bernhardt joined the Mountaineer coaching staff as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in January 2025.
The Grapevine, Texas, native arrived in Morgantown from Jacksonville State where he served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for one season. Before adding football to his responsibilities in 2024, Bernhardt was the director of baseball performance for the Gamecocks in 2023. He assisted in the programming and execution of the training for all football athletes and directed strength and conditioning for baseball and softball. Bernhardt was also responsible for staff task delegation and management.
Before joining the staff full-time, Bernhardt was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Jacksonville State for two years.
Bernhardt started his strength and conditioning career at Arkansas as an intern, completing more than 640 hours under an approved Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association mentor and master strength coach.
He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Arkansas in May 2021 and added a master’s degree in human performance at Jacksonville State in December 2023. He is certified as a CSCCa strength and conditioning coach and National Strength and Conditioning Association strength and conditioning specialist.
