Golf Back in Action at Minnesota

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team will continue its fall season at the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota, on Sunday and Monday at Windsong Farm Golf Club in Independence, Minnesota.

Golfers will hit the links in tee times starting Sunday at 8:15 a.m. CT and will play 36 holes with the final 18 set for Monday. Windsong Farm is a par-71 course playing at 7,380 yards.

It marks the Mountaineers' seventh appearance at the event. Joining West Virginia and host Minnesota this year will be Oklahoma, Iowa State, Georgia, Nebraska, Rutgers, Arkansas, Oral Roberts, Kent State, Marquette, Cincinnati, Miami University, Grand Canyon and St. Thomas.

"We are excited to return to Windsong Farm Golf Club and The Gopher Invitational," coach Sean Covich said. "This is a great event featuring some very strong programs like Georgia and Oklahoma. This golf course is a championship test and will challenge every facet of your golf game including course management and shot execution. I'm excited to see how our guys have improved since our season opener."

West Virginia's lineup will consist of juniors Aidan Dortch, Ryan Leach and Nick Turowski, sophomore Jack Michael and freshman Hogan Blais. Sophomore Brody Burgess will compete as an individual.
