Tucker Donati joined the Mountaineer coaching staff in 2022 as a graduate assistant coach, working with the special teams, before being promoted to the assistant special teams coach in August 2024.
In 2024, WVU kickoff return defense was ranked No. 12 among Power Four schools in kickoff return defense, No. 17 in kickoff returns and No. 44 in net punting. The punt return defense ranked No. 4 in the Big 12. Kicker Michael Hayes II ranked No. 6 among the Power Four in field goal percentage.
In 2023, the punt return defense had a stellar year, ranking No. 5 nationally, allowing an average of 0.23 yards per return. WVU ranked No. 27 in net punting, averaging 40.8 yards and No. 39 in punt returns, averaging 10.23 yards per return, returning one for a touchdown against UNC in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
The Mountaineers were responsible for three blocked field goal attempts in 2023, ranking No. 10 nationally, which included two to seal the win at TCU.
Donati, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, graduated with his bachelor’s degree in history from WVU in 2021.
