Sean Merinar joined the WVU Athletics Department in August, 2010 and is currently director of athletics video. He oversees game day video board activities for all programs, including editing, graphics, sponsored content and crowd engagement videos, as well as game-day footage for select road contests. He is in charge of all press conferences for football, men's basketball, women's basketball and select events. He is also in charge of shooting and distributed sponsored content, including United Bank Playbooks for football and men's basketball.
Merinar returned to Morgantown after a stints with WVIllustrated.com, UWIRE/Palestra.net- The College Network and The Palestra.com as a reporter, shooter and editor for a variety of live sporting events in West Virginia and across the country.
A 2007 cum laude graduate of the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism, Merinar majored in broadcast news with a minor in communication. While working for WWVU-FM, he was named the station’s Broadcaster of the Year in 2006.
A proud third-generation Mountaineer, Merinar grew up on a farm in Sand Hill, West Virginia, located outside of Wheeling in the Northern Panhandle. He married Shelby Hicks in June 2017, and they have two sons, Declan and Malcolm, who love to cheer on the Mountaineers.
