Mackenzie O'Hanlon joined the Mountaineer Athletic Club as assistant director of donor relationships and communications in August 2024.
Prior to joining WVU Athletics, O’Hanlon served as the Major Gifts Coordinator for Duke Athletics. In her role, she supported the Major Gift Officers by assisting in their prospecting efforts. She gained experience in developing and executing stewardship initiatives, specifically for major gift donors.
Prior to Duke, O'Hanlon served as the Assistant Director of Development Operations at Appalachian State from January 2023 to August 2024. There, she played a key role in increasing membership revenue, managing gift processing and supporting the development team’s communication and digital marketing efforts. Her initiatives contributed to record-breaking membership years and substantial fundraising successes.
O'Hanlon earned both her Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Sport Management from West Virginia University, graduating in December 2022. During her time in Morgantown, she gained valuable experience through internships in administration and external affairs with the West Virginia football program and in marketing.
