Katie Stakem was named the director of operations for the West Virginia University women’s soccer team in February 2023, following multiple seasons as a student manager.
Stakem’s roles include coordinating arrangements with opponents, organizing team activities and supervising student managers. She also oversees the organization of equipment for training sessions and filming practices and games.
In all, Stakem has been a part of the Mountaineer women’s soccer program since 2018.
Prior to her current role, Stakem was a graduate assistant with WVU’s equipment staff, working specifically with men’s and women’s basketball.
A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, Stakem earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology with an emphasis in aquatic therapy in May of 2022. She graduated with her master’s in sport management from WVU’s College of Applied Human Sciences in May 2024.
