Ja’Cquez Williams joined the Mountaineer coaching staff as a defensive analyst in January 2025.
The Ludowici, Georgia, native arrived in Morgantown from Jacksonville State where he served as the defensive graduate assistant for two seasons. While there, he assisted in coaching linebackers, focusing on player development and defensive strategy. He implemented game plans for opponents and provided players with in-depth feedback through film reviews and performance evaluations.
In his first season with the Gamecocks, Williams acted as the linebackers primary signaler, insuring there was clear and effective communication between coaching staff and players.
Williams was a four-year letterman at Wake Forest before finishing his career at Louisiana-Monroe under defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Zac Alley in 2021. He appeared in 58 career games between the two schools and totaled 241 tackles.
Following his playing days, Williams was an account representative at Total Quality Logistics, where he made customer calls daily to uncover new business opportunities. He also joined East Logistics LLC for a stint in the spring of 2021 as a warehouse order selector.
Williams graduated with his bachelor’s degree in communication from Wake Forest in December 2020 and added a master’s degree in criminal justice at Louisiana-Monroe in December 2021.
