Rowing Heads North for Duquesne Invitational
May 01, 2026 10:00 AM | Rowing
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team will close out its regular season on May 2 at the Duquesne Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Racing is scheduled to take place at Washington's Landing. Crews will row up to the bottom of the island to be aligned for the start. The course will end around the 16th Street Bridge or Veterans Bridge.
West Virginia is competing against Canisius, Duquesne, Robert Morris and Toledo. WVU previously faced Robert Morris and Canisius earlier this season at the Knecht Cup Regatta.
The Mountaineers will field entries in the 1V8, 2V8, 1V4, 2V4, 3V8 and 3V4 events, with competition set to begin at 10 a.m.
Spectators are encouraged to watch from the riverbank, the 16th Street Bridge or the pedestrian bridge at bottom of the island.
To access the riverbank, fans can park in any legal parking spot along River Avenue, and there are a few places where people can see racing from the trail that runs along the river.
To access the 16th Street Bridge, fans can park in the Strip District, on the street or in the garage and walk to the bridge, beginning at the intersection of Penn Avenue and 16th Street.
To access the pedestrian bridge or bottom of the island, fans can park in the first lot on the left as they drive onto the island and walk to the bottom or the footbridge. Do not park in the neighborhood or Redfin Blues lot, as you will be ticketed and/or towed. This is considered the least stressful parking option, but also the least advantaged viewing point, as it's behind the start line, so spectators would have to watch the crews race away from them.
