Rowing Announces 2025-26 Team Awards

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Rowing program announced its team award winners for the 2025-26 season, recognizing senior award recipients and the Hammer, Flame, Wake and MVP awards winners.
In each category, there are two recipients, including one returning member of the team and one newcomer, who is in their first year with the program. All awards, apart from the Senior Award and the Hammer, are voted on by the team.
The Hammer - The Hammer Award is presented to one returning and one new athlete every year with the fastest recorded 2k erg scores of the season. It recognizes the importance of power and erg speed in the sport of rowing.?
Returner — Nikolina Djordjevic
Newcomer — Hope Deegan
The Flame - The Flame Award recipients are recognized for their consistent work ethic, contributions to the team, and serving as positive role models within rowing and beyond. These athletes lift their teammates up with words, attitude, and true Mountaineer Spirit, through their darkest and brightest days as Mountaineers.
Returner — Lauren Mueller (2025 Recipient)
Newcomer — Grace Gonet?
The Wake - Wake refers to disturbance or change. These individuals have personally made the most positive change within themselves from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. They have developed and changed the most throughout the year.
Returner — Olivia Martens
Newcomer — Gretchen Ham & Quinn Ray
MVP Award - This award recognizes the recipients as being essential components to the success of the team. Consideration is given to on and off-water performances, as well as leadership, and a focus on contributions to racing speed on the water.?

Newcomer — Tessa Naldzin?
Senior Award – The Senior Oar is awarded to each of our 2026 graduates: Nikolina Djordjevic, Addison Dobson, Grace Fay, Emma Higgins, Grace Holliday, Ksenia Kaludjerovic, Grace Terlion and Isabelle Totton.
