MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Eleven members of the West Virginia University rowing team were honored by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association as 2026 CRCA Scholar-Athletes, including eight with GPAs of 4.0.
"Balancing the demands of collegiate rowing and academics requires tremendous commitment, discipline, and support," said Janet Raymer, CRCA Executive Director. "These 1,174 scholar-athletes have demonstrated excellence not only in competition, but also in the classroom. Their achievements reflect the dedication of the student-athletes themselves, as well as the coaches, teammates, faculty, and families who help support their success. The CRCA is proud to recognize their accomplishments."
The 11 Mountaineer student-athletes named to this year's team match the program record for the third occasion and first since 2022. The honorees are sophomore Kate Conard (political science/english), senior Addison Dobson (sport, exercise and performance psychology), graduate student Grace Fay (nursing), senior Emma Higgins (marketing/advertising), junior Raquel Iga (chemistry), senior Ksenia Kaludjerovic (economics), junior Alexis Mitchell (health services administration), junior Lauren Mueller (multidisciplinary studies), sophomore Brooke Plummer (civil engineering), senior Grace Terlion (supply chain management) and junior Teegan Wendley (animal and nutritional sciences).
Higgins and Terlion earned spots on the team for the third year in a row, while this marks the second appearance for Iga, Kaludjerovic, Mitchell, Mueller and Wendley. This also marks the fourth time in the past six years that at least 10 rowing student-athletes have made the team.
To earn CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better and must have competed in the NCAA team boats of First Eight, Second Eight and First Four for at least 75% of the team's spring races or at its conference championship. Eligibility also is limited to student-athletes in their second, third, fourth and fifth seasons.
