The West Virginia University golf team returns to action in its spring schedule on Monday and Tuesday at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island at Sea Island Golf Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
No. 44 West Virginia will be joined by host No. 70 Rutgers, No. 39 Cincinnati, No. 86 Princeton, No. 56 Florida Gulf Coast, No. 64 Georgia Southern, No. 69 Nebraska, No. 85 Minnesota, No. 89 NC State, No. 58 Memphis, UNCG, No. 42 Kansas, Penn State, No. 97 Kennesaw State and No. 23 Notre Dame.
West Virginia's lineup will consist of seniors Westy McCabe and Kaleb Wilson, sophomores Aidan Dortch and Nick Turowski and freshman Jack Michael. Junior Harrison Thompson will travel as an alternate.
Golfers will tee off at 8:45 a.m. on Monday to play 36 holes, followed by the final 18 holes set to begin Tuesday morning. After this tournament, the Mountaineers will remain on the road to compete in the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia, Friday to Sunday.
"Our guys are eager to get back to playing our brand of golf this week," coach Sean Covich said. "Florida exposed a lot of our weaknesses, mainly our poor mindset and obsession of things we can't control. Hopefully that performance was a wakeup call to get back to what led to success in the fall season, embracing adversity with a positive mindset, staying in the present and moving to the next shot. We were able to have a competitive qualifier last weekend and a new lineup emerged for us. I'm excited to see how these five guys perform at Sea Island."
