MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the 2026-27 Mountaineer golf schedule.
"Our schedule will allow our players the opportunity to compete on world-class golf courses against great competition," coach Sean Covich said. "We've added some new events, but also returning to a few of our favorite places, including Hawaii and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, two tournaments where we return as the defending champions."
The Mountaineers will open the fall season for the first time at the New York Harbor Cup at Bayonne Golf Club in Bayonne, New Jersey, on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
A week later, West Virginia will return to the Island Resort Collegiate at Sage Run Golf Club in Bark River, Michigan, on Sept. 6-7. Last year, the Mountaineers captured the team title by shooting 55-under-par, and Ryan Leach shot a school record -17 to win the individual title.
For the seventh time in school history, the Mountaineers will travel to Independence, Minnesota, to compete in The Gopher Invitational on Sept. 20-21.
West Virginia will host the Nemacolin Collegiate Invitational at Mystic Rock Golf Course in Farmington, Pennsylvania, for the third year in a row on Oct. 5-6. Previously, WVU won the first two team titles while Kaleb Wilson won both individual championships.
On Oct. 12-14, the Big 12 Match Play Tournament will return this season. For the first time, it will be held at The Country Club in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Mountaineers will once again close out the fall season in Hawaii on Nov. 4-5, playing in the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational at the Pearl at Kalauao Golf Club in 'Aiea, O'ahu, for the second year in a row. Last year, WVU won the team title shooting 21-under-par.
WVU will open the spring season at the Dorado Beach Collegiate at TPC Dorado Beach in Dorado, Puerto Rico, on Feb. 7-9. This tournament marks WVU's return to the event since February 2024.
For the third year in a row, West Virginia will return to the Battle at Briar's Creek at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, South Carolina, on Feb. 15-16.
The Mountaineers will play two tournaments in March – The Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Georgia, from March 19-21 and the Bulls Bay Rodeo Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, South Carolina, on March 28-30.
The final regular season competition will take place on April 12-13 with the annual Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia. WVU has won its own event four times along with having four individual champions.
"Personally, I am always excited to be able to host two tournaments on our home courses – Pete Dye Golf Club and Nemacolin," Covich added. "I believe we have some of the best courses of any program around and to be able to highlight those by hosting events is always special."
The Big 12 Men's Golf Championship will take place on April 26-28 at The Covey at Big Easy Ranch in Columbus, Texas, on April 26-28.
The 2027 NCAA Regionals will be hosted at various sites from May 17-19 with teams advancing to the 2027 NCAA Championship at La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California, from May 28-June 2.
