MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt sophomore Toby Mawer of the West Virginia University men's soccer team and sophomore Jake Salcedo of the men's swimming and diving team have been named the WVU Co-Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Mawer recorded 13 saves across two shutout victories for the Mountaineers last week. Against UCF, Mawer made a career-high six saves to help West Virginia secure a 3-0 victory.
The goalkeeper followed that performance with seven saves in a 1-0 road win over Georgia Southern, including a crucial penalty kick save. Mawer helped lead the Mountaineer defense despite WVU playing with 10 men for nearly the entire match.
Salcedo highlighted the week for the men's swimming and diving team by setting a program record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:07.43. His performance broke the previous school record, which had stood since 2024.
