MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams face Cincinnati and Delaware on Friday and Saturday at The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.
Â
The meet begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Â
This is the first action for both squads since they opened the season during the first weekend of October. The women's team (1-0) began the year with a dominant dual meet victory over Marshall. The men's team (1-1) split a tri-meet against Penn State and Virginia Tech, defeating the Nittany Lions for the first time since 2010.
Â
During the opening weekend, the women's team had strong performances across the board particularly with its freshmen swimmers. Three freshmen won events while also posting top-10 program times, including Rowan Baglole, Taylor Clements and Evey Quick.
Â
Clements recorded the second-fastest time in program history in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.93).
Â
On the men's side, the young core of the team excelled for the Mountaineers. In his first collegiate meet, freshman Rafael Arizpe posted two top-10 program times in the 200-yard butterfly (1:47.23) and the 400-yard individual medley (3:50.42).
Â
West Virginia returns to dual meet action against Delaware for the second consecutive season. The men's team won and the women's lost last season on the road in Newark, Delaware.
Â
This is the first dual meet between the Mountaineers and Bearcats since 2023 after a scheduled meet for the 2024-25 season was canceled. This is the only dual meet the Mountaineers have against a Big 12 Conference opponent this season.
