
Mountaineers Welcome La Salle for Monday Matchup

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 16 West Virginia University men's soccer team is back at home on Monday, Aug. 25, to take on La Salle. Kickoff from Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
Nick Farrell and Adam Zundell have the call of Thursday's contest on ESPN+. The game also can be heard on 91.7 FM (WWVU) in Morgantown, and live stats are available at WVUsports.com.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. Tickets for WVU students are free with a valid student ID.
It will be Dog Day at DDSS with fans encouraged to bring their four-legged friends to the match. Dogs must have proof of vaccinations and a waiver must be signed.
The Mountaineers are 1-0 on the season after defeating Manhattan, 5-2, in their season opener on Thursday. Junior Pablo Pozos had a hat trick while seniors Marcus Caldeira and Ethan Dekel Daks each had one. Caldeira also tallied three assists with sophomores Isaac Scheer and Oscar Emilio Trujillo Lizárraga both had two.
Caldeira was named the 2025 Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. In his career, he has 29 goals and 11 assists for a total of 69 points. Graduate defender Carlos Hernando and Scheer joined Caldeira on the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team.
La Salle is led by 5th-year head coach Taylor Thames, who is 22-35-13 during his tenure in Philadelphia. The Explorers were picked 10th in the Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll after going 6-8-4 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play a season ago.
La Salle opened the 2025 season with a 1-1 draw against Lehigh, getting a goal from Lucas Kelley. Tino Kneis made four saves in net for the Explorers.
