
WVU Falls to Kansas in Big 12 Quarterfinals

FORT WORTH, Texas – The West Virginia University women's soccer team (13-3-3, 8-0-3 Big 12) fell to Kansas, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Soccer Tournament at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday night.
 
The Jayhawks added a score in the first half and then three more in the second half to top the Mountaineers in the quarterfinals for the second straight season. Monday's loss marked the first for West Virginia since August 24, as well as the first against a Big 12 opponent this season, ending WVU's 15-match unbeaten streak.
 
Kansas dominated the final box score, topping West Virginia 22-7 in shots and 13-2 in shots on goal. The Jayhawks earned three corner kicks compared to just one for WVU. Senior forward Taylor White and junior forward Abbey Olexa notched two shots apiece. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Bailey Herfurth notched a career-high nine saves in the loss.
 
West Virginia's lead in the all-time series now moves to 10-5-3, while the Jayhawks' advantage in neutral-site matches is now 3-1 all time.
 
The Mountaineers now wait to learn their fate in the 2025 NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. The NCAA Selection Show is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
