Martha Heaps joined Mountaineer athletics in November 2022 and serves as the associate director of compliance.
In this role, she will be assisting David Kooger, senior associate athletics director for governance and compliance, and Michael Derringer, associate athletics director for governance and compliance, in complying with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, Big 12 and West Virginia University.
Previously, she worked in West Virginia University’s Student Financial Services office where she helped process athletic aid. Her career in collegiate athletics includes a stint as Portland State’s compliance coordinator.
Heaps earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport sciences from Concordia University, where she played four years on the women’s soccer team, and later received a master’s degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from the University of Washington.
She works remotely and resides with husband, Taylor, in Durham, North Carolina, where he is attending law school at Duke University.
