
West Virginia Ranked No. 20 in NWCA Preseason Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University wrestling team is ranked No. 20 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) preseason coaches poll.
This is the second consecutive season that West Virginia earned a spot in the preseason poll after being ranked No. 19 last year. It is only the sixth time in program history that the Mountaineers have earned a preseason ranking.
West Virginia is one of eight Big 12 Conference teams in the poll, with Oklahoma State leading the way at No. 5.
West Virginia is also represented by seven wrestlers in the FloWrestling rankings to begin the season.
Graduate students Jett Strickenberger (125) and Willie McDougald (149) are ranked No. 6 and No. 14, respectively, in their weight classes. Redshirt senior Jordan Titus (141) is No. 29, redshirt juniors Brody Conley (174) and Ian Bush (184) are No. 24 and No. 14, respectively.
Redshirt sophomore Ty Watters is No. 5 at 157 pounds and redshirt freshman Rune Lawrence is No. 33 at 197 pounds.
West Virginia begins the 2025-26 season at the Southeast Open in Salem, Virginia, on Sunday, Nov. 2.
