Luke Cody joined the Mountaineer football staff as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2025.
Cody arrives at West Virginia after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at Jacksonville State. In his role with the Gamecocks, he oversaw the baseball team and was responsible for documenting injuries and designing rehabilitation programs for athletes. Cody also coordinated student athletic trainers while leading communication between head coaches, strength coaches, orthopedic and general doctors and urgent care officials about athletes’ injuries.
Prior to his time at Jacksonville State, he spent three seasons as the head football athletic trainer at McNeese State, while also working with the track and field programs.
Cody completed clinical rotations at UAB football, Pell City High School, Riverview Regional, Davidson football and Jacksonville State football, volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis.
He started his career in 2018 with Drayer Physical Therapy Institute as a physical therapy technician for two years. He also volunteered for the Cheaha Challenge (2022), ACC Tennis Tournament (2022) and the Manning Passing Academy (2021-24).
The Gadsden, Alabama, native graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Auburn in May 2018 and earned his master’s degree in athletic training from Jacksonville State in August 2022. Cody is certified in CPR, AED, First Aid, BOC and is a National Athletic Trainers Association member.
