Kristen Thomas joined the Student-Athlete Development Staff at West Virginia in July of 2017. She serves as a learning specialist within the department.
In this role, Thomas assists student-athletes with time management and study skills, providing weekly grade reports to supervisors for each athlete. She also provides accommodations to student-athletes with identified disabilities.
With more than 20 years of experience in education, Thomas previously spent 13 years with Baltimore County Public Schools in Baltimore, Maryland, as a special education teacher. She has also worked with EBS Healthcare, Abilities Network, Howard County Public Schools, St. Jerome’s Head Start, Gymboree Play Programs and the University Affiliated Center for Developmental Disabilities of Morgantown.
Thomas holds a pair of degrees from WVU, earning a Bachelor of Science in Family Resources and Child Development in 1993 before earning a Master of Arts in Special Education, Early Intervention in 1996. She holds numerous education certifications in the state of Maryland and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
