Drew Dirda joined the West Virginia University athletics maintenance staff in July 2022 to coordinate the daily oversight of the Mountaineers’ athletic surfaces, both natural and synthetic, as its turf grass manager.
Dirda, who is from a military family and grew up Mountain Home, Idaho, most recently served as turfgrass technician at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and has five years of professional experience in golf course maintenance and agronomy. His professional work experience also includes a turfgrass science internship at Pikewood National Golf Club in the summer of 2021.
He earned degrees in business administration from California University of Pennsylvania in 2020 and in turfgrass science from Penn State University in 2022. He also has an associate’s degree from Westmoreland County Community College in business administration. He also has a commercial pesticide license and is a member of Golf Course Superintendents Associate of America (GCSAA).
Dirda resides in Morgantown.
