Doug Himes is the director of information technology for West Virginia University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. His role in athletics began in 2007 following a five-year stint as the manager of outbound support for WVU’s OIT help desk.
Himes oversees end-user and on-site support, helps coordinate all software and hardware purchases for athletics and interacts on a daily basis with West Virginia University’s campus information technology department.
He also oversees game-day scanner support for all ticketed home athletic events and is responsible for first-tier support for West Virginia’s Paciolan Ticketing System.
Prior to WVU, he worked at WVNET as a network technician while overseeing its computer support office. From 1991-94, he served a four-year stint in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, specializing in satellite communications.
The Kingwood, West Virginia, native and his wife, Erin, have three children: Ashlyn, Alex and Aiden.
They reside in Morgantown.
