Matt Pahls joined the West Virginia University athletic training staff in April 2023 and tends to the athletic training needs of the men’s soccer team after working with the men's and women’s swimming and diving programs.
Pahls came to WVU from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, where he spent the last seven years as the head athletic trainer working for men’s soccer and men’s volleyball. During his time with the Railsplitters, he was directly involved with the policy structure for their drug screening procedure, including developing and monitoring practices, and supervised and educated athletic training students as a preceptor.
He also oversaw and organized clinic coverage roles for all athletic training staff members.
Pahls got his start in the profession in 2013 as a graduate assistant athletic training at the University of Nebraska where he spent two years working with men’s and women’s tennis.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Kansas in 2013. He has been a NATA member since 2010.
He resides in Morgantown.
