McCabe Sixth, Turowski 15th at NCAA Regional

MARANA, Ariz. – West Virginia University senior Westy McCabe shot a 3-under-par 69, while sophomore Nick Turowski recorded a 2-under-par 70 during the first round of the NCAA Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Arizona, on Monday.
McCabe carded four birdies on the day to sit tied for sixth place on the individual leaderboard. Turowski had four birdies and an eagle and is tied for 15th place. Two golfers lead the field at 7-under-par.
Senior Kaleb Wilson was +5, while sophomore Ryan Leach and freshman Jack Michael were both +6 during Monday's first round.
As a team, the Mountaineers are in 10th place with a 6-over-par round. WVU is three shots ahead of Florida Gulf Coast and five strokes ahead of San Diego State in the 14-team regional. WVU trails Saint Mary's and Clemson by two strokes and Tarleton State by one stroke heading into Tuesday's second round. Arizona and Oklahoma State lead the field at -11.
WVU will tee off No. 10 beginning at 8:25 a.m. local time (11:25 a.m. ET) on Tuesday.
