ITA Announces All-Academic Awards

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the 12th consecutive year, and eight Mountaineers were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2024-25 season.
Freshmen Lyla Byers, Susannah Su and Laura Villanueva Morillo, redshirt junior Maja Dodik, seniors Mille Haagensen, Michaela Kucharova and Tatiana Lipatova and graduate student Julie Bousseau were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
"It's awesome to see what these players have accomplished academically," head coach Miha Lisac said. "Their achievements and our team GPA continue to position us as the top-performing team in the conference. Our team and players represent our institution and our state in the best way possible.
"Secondly, our team's academic achievements speak to the outstanding support our academic department, under the guidance of (executive senior associate athletics director for student-athlete service and wellness) Brittney O'Dell and our academic advisor, Jeremy Lannon, provides to our student-athletes. We are staying true to our commitment to preparing our players for life on and off the tennis courts."
Kucharova earned the honor each year during her career at West Virginia. This marks the third selection for Dodik, and the second for Lipatova. This is the first time Byers, Su and Villanueva Morillo earned the honor.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet a set of academic and athletic standards of having a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must hold a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
