
Mountaineers Set for Gold Rush Match Against No. 14 Kansas

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (14–7, 2–7 Big 12) is set to host No. 14 Kansas (16–8, 7-3 Big 12) at Hope Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 1, with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
Saturday's match will feature Youth Day and a Gold Rush. All fans are encouraged to wear gold to the match.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. When purchasing online, tickets are $10 each and $7 each for groups of 10 or more. Any remaining tickets are $12 at the ticket window on match day.
WVU student tickets are available at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Hope Coliseum, and are free with a valid WVU Student I.D. The office, as well as the stadium gates, opens at 12 p.m. on game day.

This marks the 29th all-time meeting between the Mountaineers and the Jayhawks, with Kansas leading the series 22–6. WVU looks to snap a six-match losing streak against Kansas, last defeating the Jayhawks on November 5, 2021.
Statistically, West Virginia enters the match ranked top five in the Big 12 in four categories. It is third in hitting percentage (.264), fourth in aces per set (1.49) and total blocks (201.0) and fifth in service aces (124)
Individually, redshirt junior setter Alexis Finnvold ranks second in the conference with 38 service aces and aces per set at 0.46. Junior middle blocker Maddy McGath stands fourth in hitting percentage (.364), 14th in total blocks (85.0) and 16th in blocks per set (1.02). Senior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim ranks 12th in total blocks (88.0) and ninth in blocks per set (1.17). Senior libero LonDynn Betts is fifth in total digs with 297.
The Mountaineers aim to close out their homestand with a 2–1 record following a four-set victory over Houston on October 30.
Kansas arrives in Morgantown ranked No. 14 nationally after a four-set win over Cincinnati on Oct 30. Led by first-year head coach Matt Ulmer (182–85 career record), the Jayhawks feature three members of the 2025 Big 12 Volleyball Preseason Team: sophomore setter Cristin Cline, sophomore middle blocker Reese Ptacek, and freshman pin hitter Jovana Zelenovic. Ptacek received All-Big 12 First Team honors in 2024.
