Tony Cavender rejoined the athletics’ maintenance staff in November 2021 to assist in the daily operations of the Mountaineers’ 18 intercollegiate sports. Cavender’s specific expertise is in carpentry, concrete, masonry work, welding, power tool and equipment operation.
He has worked in various departments at West Virginia University since 2001, and owns the unique distinction of working in every building on campus during his WVU tenure. He possesses Journeymen Electrician’s, HVAC Tech and EPA Universal licenses.
Cavender resides in Preston County with his wife, Laurie, their two daughters, Shelby and Donna, their two nieces, Jasmine Burns and Elizabeth Boye, and nephew Malcolm Boye.
