Kristina Martinez joined West Virginia University Athletics as the Director of Nutrition for Olympic Sports in July 2025.
Martinez joins WVU after serving as the assistant director of sports nutrition at the University of North Texas for two years. In this role, Martinez supervised and implemented nutrition and hydration interventions and operations for men's basketball, women's volleyball, women's tennis and women's swimming and diving.
Martinez also supervised and mentored sports nutrition interns and fellows while at North Texas. She also worked as a sports dietitian at the University of Arkansas for two years. While working for the Razorbacks, Martinez oversaw nutrition operations for men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball and softball.
Martinez also served as the director of sports nutrition for East Carolina University from 2019 to 2021, after working as an intern for Rutgers University and the University of Virginia.
She is a 2016 graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. in dietetics and health, nutrition & fitness. Martinez earned an M.S. in nutrition and wellness from Benedictine University in 2017.
