Mountaineers Receive AVCA Team Academic Award, Team Academic Honor Roll Recognition

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team earned its second consecutive American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 season.
The Mountaineers also earned AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll recognition, placing among the top 20 percent of team grade-point averages nationally by division.
WVU is one of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams to earn the Team Academic Award after posting a year-long team GPA of 3.3 or higher.
West Virginia earned additional academic recognition during the 2025-26 season, with Alexis Finnvold, Nina Horning and Eily Painter earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, while 11 Mountaineers were named to the Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team.
The AVCA Team Academic Award was initiated during the 1992-93 academic year. The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.3 team cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 team cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale throughout the academic year.
