
Hellmann Places Fourth to Lead Mountaineers at Big 12 Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Levi Hellmann placed fourth on 3-meter to lead the Mountaineers on the second night of the 2026 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
This marked the highest finish in any event for Hellmann as he narrowly missed out on a third-place finish with 367.90 total points. TCU's David Ekdahl placed third with 374.70 points. Despite no swimmers in the A final, the Mountaineers achieved multiple milestones. In the C final of the men's 200-yard individual medley, sophomore Joey Stebbins swam the sixth-fastest time in program history (1:46.62) to place second in the heat.
Redshirt junior Christian Simpson finished third with the eighth-fastest time in program history (1:47.30).
During prelims in the morning, freshman Jake Salcedo moved up the leaderboard in the men's 500-yard freestyle. He now holds the third-fastest time in program history after swimming a 4:22.95. He would go on to place eighth in the B final.
Freshman Baylee Sloan also posted a top-10 program time during prelims. She recorded a 2:02.67 in the women's 200-yard IM for the 10th-fastest time in program history.
