MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt sophomore Louie Gill of the West Virginia University wrestling team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.

Gill won the 125-pound title at the Southeast Open to begin his 2026-27 season.

Gill defeated three wrestlers on his way to winning the championship, including Maryland's No. 10 Nicolar Rivera. He rolled into the finals on the back of wins by technical fall and major decision.
