MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team competed in the George Washington Invitational this past weekend in Washington, D.C., on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13.

The Regatta was held on the Potomac River near the Thompson Boat Center with strong competition, including George Washington, Georgetown, Old Dominion, St. Mary's and UC San Diego. The event was a dual-style format race, meaning two teams were paired against one another and that pairing changed across the three sessions.

The Mountaineers opened the event on Saturday with George Washington. This session was highlighted by the 1V4 boat capturing a victory by 20 seconds.

In the Sunday morning session against Old Dominion, the 2V8 and 1V4 carried WVU to an even split, earning wins in both categories. However, Sunday afternoon saw the Mountaineers drop all four races versus Georgetown.
