
Mountaineers Return to Penn State for Sykes & Sabock Challenge

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team makes it third trip of the season to University Park, Pennsylvania on Feb. 8 for the Sykes & Sabock Challenge.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m. ET, inside of the Multi-Sport Facility & Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
The Sykes & Sabock Challenge can be viewed lived on the Big 10 Plus network, while live results can be found at WVUsports.com.
On Saturday, West Virginia will race in the women's 60-meter hurdles, 60-meter dash, mile, 200 meters, 400 meters, 600 meters 800 meters, 1,000 meters, 3,000 meters, and the 4x400 meter relay.
Additionally, WVU will compete in the high jump and long jump in the field events.
Last time out, the Mountaineers had a successful outing at the Penn State National Open on Jan. 31–Feb. 1, in University Park. Graduate student Sarah Tait became the second fastest Mountaineer in program history to run the women's mile, after boasting a personal best time of 4:33.91 and claiming third place.
Additionally, classmate Madison Trippett became the fourth fastest in program history to compete in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:45.75. Freshman Joy Naukot laminated herself as third all-time in the 3,000 meters after collecting a time of 8:59.10 in her collegiate debut.
Lastly, redshirt sophomore Olivia Cress had her collegiate debut in the pentathlon and marked herself as fifth in the record book with a score of 3710.
