In her new role as assistant athletics director for strategic initiatives and administration, Kim Thaler is responsible for the hiring and transitioning of new employees and assisting the department in its staff performance and talent strategies, among other duties geared toward promoting a culture of employee engagement and achievement.
She assumed her current role in January 2025 after previously serving as director of personnel services and associate director of personnel services since June 2018.
Previously, she was an administrative assistant in the athletic business office with responsibilities including employee leave, procurement and purchasing, travel expense reports, the Big 12 student-athlete opportunity fund and the coordination of internal department communication.
She assumed that role in October 2016. Previously, she was the director of communications and project management assistant at March-Westin from 2006-16.
Thaler was a student worker in the athletic business office while completing her degree in journalism from West Virginia University in 2004.
The Morgantown native and Morgantown High graduate and her husband, Jim, have two children, Cooper and Callie, and two step-children, Georgia and Christian.
They reside in Bruceton Mills.
