MORGANTOWN, W.VA — West Virginia faces UT Martin on Family Day at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium on Sept. 12, 2026, in Morgantown, W.Va.
Since then, WVU has either been tripped up in its opener or the second game of the year.
The Mountaineers (1-0) are coming off a season-opening 31-24 victory over Coastal Carolina last Saturday that saw them jump out to a 24-0 halftime lead before allowing the Chanticleers to score 24 of the game's next 31 points after intermission.
Coastal Carolina quarterback Deuce Bailey passed for 373 yards and three touchdowns, continuing last year's trend of West Virginia giving up significant yardage through the air. The Mountaineers ranked 127th last season in pass defense surrendering 265.4 yards per game, which required some significant offseason retooling in the secondary.
