Eight Mountaineers Selected for NCAA East First Round

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Eight members of the West Virginia University track and field team have been selected to compete at the 2026 NCAA East First Round, held May 27-30 in Lexington, Kentucky.
WVU's qualifiers include Joy Naukot, Anastasia Chepkorir, Lexi Lamb and Emily Bryce in the 10,000 meters, Mercy Kinyanjui and Ronis Chelangat in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Kishay Rowe in the 800 meters and Annishka McDonald in the high jump.
Naukot, Bryce and Chepkorir each earned All-Big 12 honors at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships. Kinyanjui also collected All-Big 12 recognition following her runner-up finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.
McDonald enters regional competition after breaking both the indoor and outdoor school records in the high jump during the 2026 season.
The NCAA East Preliminary Regional serves as the qualifying meet for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, with the top finishers in each event advancing to nationals.
