
Mountaineers Come Up Short Against No. 18 UCF in Finale

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (7-13, 1-12 Big 12) closed out the 2026 regular season with a 4-2 loss to No. 18 UCF (18-3, 11-2 Big 12) on Sunday morning at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.
UCF claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, while the match on court one went unfinished.

West Virginia responded in singles play with a pair of victories. Lyla Byers battled back after dropping the first set to earn a three-set win on court four, while Sosanna Malaak added a straight-set victory on court six.
UCF secured the match with three singles wins, while one additional match went unfinished.
